Common questions
Straight answers about how tax strategy works, what it costs and how to get started.
Getting started
How do I know if this can help me?
First, we do a quick assessment to show your potential savings. You can submit your return for review or book a 30-minute Intro Assessment call.
What if I’m not a “big” business yet?
Perfect. Starting early means more time to keep what you earn and grow strategically. Whether you are just getting started or already earning six figures, strategic planning can transform your outcome.
Who do you work with?
Self-made entrepreneurs, contractors, consultants and real estate investors who are growing their income and want a proactive plan, including business owners with 1099, LLC or S-Corp setups.
Do you work with clients outside my state?
Yes. We serve clients virtually across the U.S. Calls and meetings are by phone or video.
How does the return review work?
It is one form, in seven short steps. You securely upload your most recent tax returns, answer the questions about your income, your business and what you want to improve, and choose a time for your complimentary 30-minute assessment before you sign and send. There is no second form to fill in and nothing else to book.
We then review what you sent, looking for missed deductions, gaps and IRS risks. Once the review is done we contact you within 48 hours with what we found and what it means for you, and your assessment call is where we go deeper and answer your questions. Start your review.
Our approach
What’s the difference between tax prep and tax strategy?
Tax preparation looks back and reports what already happened. Tax strategy is ongoing and proactive, designed to reduce your tax bill before it is due.
Do I have to switch accountants?
No. We collaborate with your CPA. We focus on planning and savings, not replacing your tax preparer. Tax preparation is also available in our Builder and Holistic Planning packages if you would like it.
What makes this different from other tax services?
We take a holistic, year-round approach: strategy, implementation and long-term planning, all tailored to you, with quarterly strategy sessions so the plan keeps up with your life.
What is a Certified Tax Specialist (CTS)?
A professional designation granted by the Institute of Business & Finance to advisors who complete an advanced income tax program, pass exams and a written case study, meet experience requirements, complete annual continuing education and sign a code of ethics. Learn more about the CTS.
Can you help with retirement, estate planning and life insurance?
Yes. Retirement planning is part of every tax plan, and advanced planning services cover trusts and legacy protection, life insurance and executive and employee benefits. See advanced planning.
Pricing and scheduling
How much does this cost?
It depends on complexity, income level and number of entities, and we always start with a quick review so you can see whether the savings are worth it. Packages start at $1,350, and most clients invest $1,500 to $5,000. See pricing.
What isn’t included in the price?
External service costs such as trusts, legal fees, cost segregation studies and life insurance premiums.
What are your office hours?
Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM Eastern. Phone calls and meetings are by appointment only.
How do I reschedule or cancel my Intro Assessment?
Use the link in your confirmation email to cancel, then book a new time. If you can’t find the email, contact us and we will help.
Is my information kept confidential?
